Madre Espadin
Certified Mezcal Artesanal, made entirely by hand in the hills of Oaxaca — no shortcuts, no additives.
This bottling comes from Carlos Blas and his family in Santiago Matatlán, who've been making mezcal since 1930 and still run it as a family operation. They roast fully mature Espadín agave from their own fields in Miahuatlán, Matatlán, and San Dionisio, cooking each lot separately in earthen pits before blending.
It's a single-varietal expression, so the Espadín character comes through clean: earthy and bright, with a natural smokiness from the pit roast rather than anything added. Round, full-bodied texture with a soft finish — approachable enough for someone new to mezcal, but with enough depth to work in a cocktail.
