Champagne Gonet-Medeville Blanc de Noirs 1er Cru Brut NV

A gloriously expressive Blanc de Noirs, Champagne Gonet-Médeville Blanc de Noirs 1er Cru Brut NV is pure Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims’ southern slopes, delivering the depth of a fine still wine with all the lift and finesse of great Champagne.

Gonet-Médeville unites two storied wine families: Xavier Gonet and his wife, Julie Médeville, owner of the legendary Château Gilette in Sauternes, produce all their champagnes from their 10 hectares of vineyards located east of Épernay, spread across 3 Grands Crus and 5 Premiers Crus. Founded in 2000 and based in the Premier Cru village of Bisseuil, the estate farms with a careful, environmentally minded approach and has quickly earned a reputation among top importers and critics as one of Champagne’s most thoughtful grower houses, prized for terroir-driven wines with real vinous character.

Sourced from vineyards on chalk in Bisseuil (90%) and Ambonnay (10%), with 30% vinified in stainless steel and the rest in old casks, the wine spends 36 months on the lees before a light 5 g/l dosage. Its ripe fruit lends a pale salmon-copper tint, and the nose opens with rose petals, ripe red apple, and nectarine, framed by subtle brioche. On the palate it is full-bodied and generous, with a touch of earthiness and nutmeg, firm structure, and fine bubbles that carry the spice through the fruit to a fresh, mineral finish.

Serious, seductive, and built for the table, this is a grower Blanc de Noirs that drinks beautifully from aperitif through the main course.
