Villargeau Coteaux du Giennois Blanc 2023

Known affectionately at our store as "baby Sancerre," this 100% Sauvignon Blanc hails from Côteaux du Giennois, a small appellation bordering Pouilly-Fumé that shares the same limestone-clay soils and produces wines just as mineral-driven as Sancerre, at half the price.

Domaine du Villargeau is run by two brothers committed to natural farming. They're members of Terra Vitis, a group that favors biological methods over chemical agents in the vineyard. In the cellar, all parcels are vinified separately in stainless steel, generally with wild yeast fermentations only.

The resulting wine is aromatic, vibrant, and succulent, with lemon zest, notes of flint, and savory minerality leading to a bright, crisp finish.

It's the kind of bottle that quietly outperforms its price tag, and a smart pour for anyone who loves Sancerre but doesn't want to pay Sancerre prices.
