Bukolyi Marcell Köves 2024

Marcell Bukolyi is the only fully certified organic winemaker in Eger, a distinction that says a lot about how seriously this young producer takes his craft. In 2016, after a decade working at his family's winery, Bukolyi and his wife Lillia bought their own plot and struck out on their own, and they still handle everything themselves from vineyard to bottle across their 14 organically farmed hectares.

Köves comes from a single vineyard on the Nagy-Eged hill, a blend of 50% Hárslevelű, 30% Riesling and 20% Furmint grown in limestone and chalky soil, fermented spontaneously and aged mostly in stainless steel with a small portion in Hungarian oak, then bottled without fining or filtration. The nose shows apple orchard and orange blossom, leading into a crisp, medium-bodied palate of fresh apricot and mandarin with herbal and saline mineral notes, finishing tight and precise rather than heavy. 750ml | Eger, Hungary
