Casa Setaro Terramatta Aglianico Campania IGT
Own-rooted Aglianico grown in black volcanic sand inside Vesuvius National Park — vines that survived phylloxera thanks to the sandy soil, so no grafting was ever needed.
Casa Setaro farms on the slopes of Vesuvius, known for reshaping how Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio is made and for reviving old native varieties like Caprettone. Terramatta is their Aglianico bottling, grown at 250–350 meters in the Tirone della Guardia vineyard.
Fruit is destemmed and cold-soaked for a few days, then ferments briefly — about eight days — before a year in stainless steel and a short stint in used oak, keeping the wine fresh rather than heavy. Expect ruby color, floral aromatics, red fruit and licorice, with a smoky, spiced edge. Good with grilled meats or pizza.
