Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Maltroie 2024

La Maltroie is one of Chassagne's most distinctive Premier Cru sites: mid-slope at 240-255 meters, with small rocks atop magnesium- and iron-rich clay over limestone bedrock — soils that read as nervy minerality in the glass. From Céline Fontaine's twelve-hectare domaine, this 2024 white is classically Fontaine-Gagnard: a clean, fresh bouquet of orchard fruit and citrus, simmering minerality on the palate, and a third new oak that's already neatly integrated. Not a powerhouse Chassagne — more nervosité and lift than weight, in the style of the cool, fresh 2024 vintage. A 1er Cru white to lay down for a few years or pull early with the right meal.
