Château Fourcas Dupré Blanc, Bordeaux, 2022

Vines have grown on the "Fourcas" plateau since the 13th century, and the estate took its present name in 1843 when Bordeaux solicitor Jean-Antoine Baptiste Dupré acquired it. Perched at 42 meters on what locals call the "roof of the Médoc," between Moulis and Saint-Julien, the 46-hectare property is farmed on Pyrenean gravel over clay and limestone and holds HVE Level 3 certification, France's highest environmental standard. Now owned by Breton entrepreneur Gérard Jicquel, the château pairs meticulous, sustainability-minded viticulture with historic cellars dating to 1843.

This blend of roughly 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon shows a bright straw-yellow color with green glints. The nose is lively and layered, offering lemon zest, white peach, pink grapefruit, and fresh green herbs, with subtle floral and mineral undertones. On the palate, racy acidity carries crisp apple and citrus flavors through a medium body, finishing with a chalky, saline minerality and very good length.

A precise, energetic white Bordeaux from an appellation better known for reds, offering serious Médoc terroir character at a refreshingly accessible price.
