Gál Tibor Fuzio 2023

Gál Tibor's Fúzió has become the estate's calling card in Eger, the flagship white that put this Bull's Blood stronghold on the map for something other than red. The winery was founded in 1993 by Tibor Gál Sr., a winemaker who'd worked under the legendary Lodovico Antinori at Ornellaia in Tuscany before returning home to bring that same terroir-driven rigor to Hungary's volcanic north; after his death in 2005, his son Tibor Gál Jr. took over and kept pushing the same philosophy of precision farming across the estate's 40 hectares.

The grapes, roughly 80% Viognier and 20% Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát), come from vineyards planted in the rhyolite tuff soils around Eger, with about 30% of the blend spending nearly a year on lees in oak to build texture. Expect ripe peach and a touch of spice on the nose, with floral hints carrying through to a full, creamy palate where the Viognier's stone fruit and the Pinot Gris's weight fold into each other seamlessly, finishing long and balanced rather than heavy. 750ml | Eger, Hungary
