Lioco Mendocino Pinot Noir 2024
A selection of premier Mendocino County vineyards were selected for this wine, with an emphasis on dry-farming, older vines, and sustainable viticulture. The goal was to capture the unique character of this region defined by the proximate Pacific Ocean, coastal redwoods, and river valleys.
Sandier soils and Northern latitudes produce floral tones not found in the wines further south. Purple flowers + black raspberries are two signatures. The other feature is connected to the vast redwood forests found here. There are coniferous notes of pine needles or underbrush in the wines. In sum, it is the melange of flowers, fruit, and forest that defines this terroir.
The 2024 Pinot Noir (Mendocino County) presses out layers of dark cherry, incense, graphite and chalk in a slightly somber, brooding frame. It pulls tight on the powdery finish, leaving behind an echo of herbs and a chewy sensation.
