Located in La Morra in Piedmont, Poderi e Cantine Oddero is one of Barolo’s most storied estates. Run for generations by men, the winery is now guided by sisters Mariacristina and Mariavittoria Oddero, daughters of Giacomo Oddero, whose influence shaped modern Barolo. The estate’s vineyards sit on prized, sun-exposed hillside sites throughout Barolo and Barbaresco, where grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Made from Dolcetto, Barbera, and a small portion of Nebbiolo, this dry, medium-bodied red is fermented separately in stainless steel, then aged for 30 months in large, neutral Slovenian oak before blending. Expect dark berry fruit and floral notes, with freshness, firm structure, and lively acidity that make it especially well suited to charcuterie, hearty stews, and savory dishes.
