Manincor Pinot Noir “Mason” 2022

Manincor Pinot Nero "Mason" 2022 is a pure varietal Pinot Noir from the celebrated Mazzon hillside in South Tyrol, a site so revered for this grape that locals simply call it "Mason" to distinguish it from another village of the same name.

The wine comes from Manincor, an estate near Kaltern with winemaking roots reaching back to 1662, whose modern era took shape in 1991 under Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg and his family. The estate farms entirely biodynamically, treating the vineyard as a self-regulating whole, and has become one of South Tyrol's most respected names for wines of precision and site expression. The Mason fruit is grown on four hectares between 400 and 450 meters, south-facing, on sandy, mineral-rich soils of dolomite, porphyry, gneiss, and granite, an elevation and exposure that keeps the notoriously tight Pinot Noir clusters dry and free of rot. Grapes from different parcels are vinified separately with spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats, then aged around a year in barriques before the final blend is assembled from only the best barrels.

In the glass, the 2022 shows a glistening, brilliant ruby. The nose is soft and layered, with wild berries, cherry, and a touch of candied sweetness meeting black pepper, forest floor, peppermint, rose petal, and licorice. On the palate it's lush and pure, with ripe cherry, raspberry, and red plum carrying real intensity, framed by fine, ripe tannins and a whisper of oak that rounds out the texture through a long, seamless finish.

It's a Pinot Noir built for real aging potential, offering the depth and refinement of a serious wine while staying true to the grape's signature elegance.
