Sanzon Rany Furmint 2022

Sanzon's Rány Furmint scored 93 points from Falstaff, a serious mark for a wine coming out of a five hectare boutique estate in Erdőbénye. Erika Rácz, born and raised in Tokaj, founded Sanzon and farms the property organically, aiming to let the region's volcanic terroir speak clearly through low-intervention winemaking. This bottling comes exclusively from the single Rány vineyard, one of Tokaj's oldest and most respected sites, first documented in 1248, where vines over 70 years old grow in stark rhyolite soil that pushes the wine toward a mineral, saline character. Expect ripe apricot and green apple up front, with waxy lemon and clementine building through the palate, fresh acidity carrying it, and just a whisper of honey on the finish.
